sunday was a bright day, yesterday

polly was really really little when 9/11 happened. she wasn't even in school yet. she was sitting on the floor in the ashram playing tetris on her gameboy when a lady came in & said something's happened. everybody turned on their cell phone & then everybody's cell phone started ringing, all at once. polly heard lots of sirens outside. all of the students had to leave & mama closed the yoga school. everybody was scared & that made polly scared. polly didn't know what was happening & nobody would tell her anything. mama held her hand so hard it hurt. papa was in kona visiting family.

polly doesn't even remember how they got home.

at home mama watched tv all day long, which she never did before. even in the afternoon when it was time for the power rangers & yugio she still watched the news. polly knew better than to ask to watch yugio because mama looked so scared & sad. the sky was grey & full of ash & smoke & polly asked mama if it was snowing. mama cried & polly was scared so she just stayed in her room & played more tetris.

later that nite polly fell asleep under her window. she kept watching the skies in case another airplane crashed into her building.

ps happy birfday moby

polly o'riley

so daljit got the idea they should learn to play baba o'riely by the who. even though nobody plays keyboards, daljt said she could work it out on her laptop & they could just play along with it. polly thought the song sounds ok though there's not much singing for her to do. marie-claire said if they learn it in time they should play it at the coffehaus as a 9/11 tribute. polly wondered what that song had to do with 9/11 & marie-claire said it was uplifting & would give people hope & make them feel better.

daljit & darshana were still in manchester when 9/11 happened. maddie was upstate at her grandma's house because her dad was being investigated by the feds. polly can't even look at a picture of the towers without getting a stomach ache. everybody says the world changed that day but polly can't remember what it was like before 9/11.

polly hates 9/11. it's the only thing she can think of she really hates except for maybe animal cruelty or racism or guns.
