polly's new year's eve party

polly had everything planned for auntie serena & marie claire but when they showed up they had different plans & wanted to make polly dinner. they made avocado & cucmber sandwiches with hummus that tasted really good. then marie claire showed polly how to make a vegan chocolate zuchinni cake while auntie serena sat at the kitchen table & mostly laughed & talked alot. polly had to grate the zuchinni & stir things. marie claire even knew how to make a vegan chocolate frosting out of tofu!

everybody listened to the wizard of oz dvd while they were baking, but they had brought a new movie to show polly called moulin rouge.

as soon as the dvd started & the curtains opened polly knew she would like the movie. (red is her favourite color, except for lime green & pink & yellow). she made them pause it so she could get clickitty because she wanted him to see it too. polly didn’t really understand the movie but she liked the singing & the clothes & the green fairy & thought it was sad at the end. now she wants to live in a giant elephant just like the lady in moulin rouge.

everybody watched moulin rouge & ate vegan chocolate zuchinni cake. polly wanted to show them her new rollerblades & watch whale rider but she was tired so they told her to lie down on the couch for a minute. it was 10:55. polly slept through the new year.

she woke up on the couch the next morning because the girls couldn’t figure out how to carry her up into her new loft bed. marie claire & auntie serena was gone but mama was in the kitchen drinking coffee & said happy new year & asked if polly wanted a special new year’s breakfast.

microwaved yam is fine mama, polly said. it’s my favourite.
